Things that happen in May

So besides the new normal in May. There are not that many things that happen. I cooked a lot. I made sushi for the first time. It turns out making sushi is not easy. Plus we didn't had the proper seaweed and device to roll. Mostly my days consist of cooking items. Since we are practicing Ramadan for the month. I only need to cook once a day which is great. We bought some clothes of the cat. That is cute. The cat looks very annoyed wearing them. 

Couldn't go shopping that much so we spend most of the time online shopping. The problem with online shopping is that we can't touch the material and we need to be precise on the sizes. So it's kind of a gamble. We bought our Eid cookies so I've been munching on that. I backed up on a new laptop. The last time I backed up an indiegogo project was in 2018. I can't wait for the laptop to arrive. 

Finally Eid arrived and usually it is going to be an awesome week but since we are on lockdown we only can visit our relatives for one day. So since it was supposed to be me and my mom this year. But my mom is not coming down. So it's just me with my wife's family. We spend the morning eating great food at my mom in law house and in the afternoon we went to my dad in law house. Overall it was a good Eid. Nothing special. The next day my best friend came down and send me some cookies. But he didn't want to come in due to social distancing. Overall May has been a okay month of staying indoors most of the time

One of the feel good games for this year

What is it about?

Follow Captain Toad and Toadette as they explore worlds for treasure 

What I liked?

A game without a jump and a run button makes for very interesting gameplay 

The stages are mini dioramas. They look vibrant and interesting 

The game is too cute. It may look easy but it so challenging 

Bosses are different and challenging

2 player is a different experience 

If you die but get a Gem, you'll start with gem in hand. Which is awesome 

Lots and lots of stages. Around 70

Bonus stages are satisfying 

DLC is awesome 

What I didn't liked?

Some of the touchscreen stages really hinders gameplay in handheld mode  

Some stages are really hard. You need to figure where does the puzzle piece to get the treasure 

Status: Finish the main game and played some of the DLC 

Fun Factor: One of the best games I've played. One of the top 10 game of the year

Quarantine Day 73

Yesterday I made some beef rice. It was awesome. Had some this morning 

So yesterday we have more cases and it's all due to the foreign workers. This is going to be a big problem since that there are like 5 million foreigners working here. Everything is a just a wait and see moment so that's just frustrating. Nothing much to report 

Mary Poppins Returns

Well you can say the first movie is better. But this is a different movie altogether

What is it about?

The Banks family now have children of their own and they need Mary Poppins more than ever 

The Good 

The story is fun and serviceable 

The are some fun song 

Animation scenes are better than the first movie

Emily Blunt makes for a good title character  

The Bad

They still haven't explained what is Mary Poppins 

Song of the song are not as great as the first movie

I think it's because we've seen the first movie. It doesn't have a certain magic as the first one has

A very beautiful game

What is it about?

It a story about live and love 

What I liked?

Everything. This game is simple as it gets. It a story about live and love 

Gameplay is simple but you are there for the story more than the gameplay 

The ending is satisfying 

What I didn't liked?

I wish it didn't end there for her. I wish there is more.

This game is flawless and yet it won't make my top 10 games of the year since there are lot of games that I've played that deserve a spot

Quarantine Day 72

Yesterday I fasted but at night I ate some chicken satay. I think I kinda ate too much. Didn't felt good at night 

Yesterday we had our lowest case ever which is only 10 cases. The authorities announce that if this goes well by 9th June it could be the end of the control order. School probably going to open soon. This is really quite worrying since the only way they can do that if there is no new cases. Since a single case can multiply to hundreds. 

Quarantine Day 71

Yesterday I ate a some pizza with some octopus balls. It was yummy 

Well It's official. The US has reached 100,000 deaths while the UK has stopped counting. I wonder why is that? Right now most of the world is still on lockdown and will be easing out this July. There are a lot of things open this July which begs the question will it all worked. As for us over here. We are enjoying the conditional lockdown but things could change any day now.

Yesterday has chicken rice for lunch and had my favorite burger for dinner. It is just me or the burger has become smaller than before 🤔

So we have 187 cases. We are back to triple digits it seems. So looks like after June 9th it’s going to be extended for another month I guess. We are almost there but it looks like we are still far away.

Second day of Eid. Didn’t do much but just hang around the house

There are less people trying to cross interstate. My best friend came to send me some cookies. Since he is practicing social distancing. He didn’t want to come in the house. Which is good.

I missed blogging yesterday. So Two days ago was. Eid so we ate a lot of things. It was so yummy and I’m so stuffed

Yesterday we have 176 cases. It was x6 more cases than our usual cases. It turns out it was from the foreign workers. This is so going to be w problem since the foreign workers are really the ones who are bringing the virus here. It’s a god thing they are all secluded in one area. Now we just have to wait and see what is going to happen next

It’s a good fun family comedy

Yesterday we ate soy chicken. It was yummy 

Today is Eid. So following MCO rules. We are only allowed to visit our parents for today only. So since my family is not here. I went and to visit my wife’s family. It was fun. We ate a lot of good food and we talked a lot. In the end it was a good one and only first day of Eid

Yesterday we ate some sushi. Was feeling for some Japanese 

Today is the last day of Ramadan. We are going to celebrate Eid tomorrow. With that comes food, visiting relatives and such. We only can visit relatives for one day tomorrow. So we better make it count I guess.

Yesterday we ate Nasi Lemak. It’s good since it’s homemade 

Another 3 more days before the end of Ramadan. Life has started to take shape. Everywhere we go, everyone is practicing proper SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). Everywhere you are required to log in and check your temperature. The sucky thing is you can’t try clothes anymore . But the good thing is that there is not many people are allowed in the shop at any given time. Today it rained like crazy that it cause a flash flood at our house. 😅

Yesterday we ate salted fish yellow curry with fried salted fish and mix fried veggie. Also soy beef 

So there are still idiots who are trying to jump the boarder today and going to their hometown. But the police are not having it today. Whoever is caught is going to be fined $250. Serve them right

What is it about?

The continuation of Tre adventures and this time we know what causes the time loop

Jessica Rothe is awesome. I like her.

The movie is basically groundhog day mix with interdimensional time travel

The killer is not as great as the last one. But they are trying to make something new here

They didn't explain the first scene in the movie. It was a plot point that didn't follow through

Quarantine Day 63

Yesterday we are staying at the grandparents house. So I don't have to cook until further notice.But I ate salmon and some veggies yesterday 

So the police here informed that for those who pass the roadblocks are going to get it later when they go home. So that means that this lockdown is going to be extended after 9 June? Maybe? During Eid the police are going around the block to check each houses if there are a lot of cars. The problem is that most houses over here there are more than one car. I think 20 people is the average person that there is in a family. The most I known is around 15 per family. So 20 is not that absured. 

Quarantine Day 62

Yesterday I didn't cook. We ate at our aunts house. She cooked a lot of awesome food. I was so stuffed that this morning I didn't eat that much.

So the depressing news of the day the WHO said that covid19 is going to be here with us for at least 3-5 years. Meaning this is going to actually be the norm until a vaccine arrive. My wife finds that depressing. I do to but there nothing much we can do. Try our best to hold on to the important stuff during the hard times 

Streets of Rage 4

A great beat em up. Wish I had friends

What it is about?

The continuation of the Streets of Rage saga. Play as all your favourites as well as someone new. (I've never played the previous Streets of Rage before) 

What I liked?

All the different characters have different fighting styles as well as different power style

Axel is strong yet slow. Blaze has a good overall range. Cherry is fast but lacks power. Floyd is a good all around with a great range. Alex is a faster version of Axel.

Game is short but there are a lot to do

What I didn't liked?

The move quite slow 

The game is unforgivingly hard even on normal difficulty. It's easy to play and difficult to master. 

Some of the bosses are cheap shots.

Fun Factor: Worth to be played. I think this is going to be more fun with friends. Need to find me some friends 

Beware the Slenderman

A documentary about a brutal stabbing involving kids 

What is it about?

In 2014, two kids stab their friend because a fictional character ask them too. 

The Good

I find that kids are really stupid. Technology is also not helping because everything is accessible. The documentary shows that how easy it is to become influence to something not real 

How they show the process of what is going through their heads

The Bad

The lots of found footage of slenderman which really doesn't deserve a showing here. I mean this is a tad too long. They are trying to show that slenderman exist but this documentary lack substance since there is less footage of the girls. I think the problem is that they did the documentary too early.

The Ugly 

The way that people think this girls are heroes. That's just sickening.

Verdict: Just read the wiki article. The documentary can be avoided. 

Batman The Enemy Within

This game is so boring. Not as good as the first one

What is it about?

The continuation of the first episode. Bruce is struggling to be two different personality and trying to fight to save his city 

What did I liked?

The storyline sometimes it's servicable

The part where you are Batman 

What I didn't liked?

The story is so boring. I mean I keep falling asleep everytime playing this game 

The Telltale engine is a old engine. Which makes the game is clunky and controlling it is not fun 

The puzzle are okay but I find it tedious

The part where you are Bruce sucks and it's not fun

Fun Factor: Well the main part of the game is fun. And the game it is not. If you like batman play the Arkham Series

Yesterday I cook for people coming to the house. We had guest so I cook some roast chicken and some beef bone soup. 

So yesterday we are talking about anxiety. I think that is the main reason that everyone is experiencing. My wife told me that we are probably not going anywhere for a couple of years. At least until 2023. Some people thinks that this is the new normal. Like I usually say. I am an optimistic. I am hoping that a vaccine will cause everything to be normal. But that's not anytime soon. What I do know is that after this every border will be block if they don't want to get more new cases. Sigh... 

Quarantine Day 60

Yesterday I didn’t cook. After 3 months I finally get to have a meal at a restaurant outside. They follow proper social distancing guidelines. I had Korean food which was delicious. But a bit salty since I’ve been cooking for a while... 

So we finally did it. We send the kids to their grandparents. I think we needed a break from them. They probably need a break from doing chores now... so I guess it’s a win win... but today I need to clean the house an after this I am going to do it right away 😅

Quarantine Day 59

Yesterday I didn’t cook but we got a lot of food. We bought nasi lemak and some sushi. The neighbors gave us some minestrone soup and porridge. Mom in law gave us some porridge and rice. So we are all set

So yesterday was the last day of the kids school before a two week break which they deserve. Now they can rest and sleep late. We played some monopoly. I think this quarantine has made family time more meaningful since we really can’t go out that much. We did however went to the mall. It wasn’t as crowded and all the shops are adhering to the protocols. I like shopping like this. Everyone knows to avoid each other which is good.

What did I liked?

First of all the story is captivating. Remedy the makers of Control really knows how to tell stories. From the start until the end you want to continue to find out what happens next

The mechanic where you need light to beat the evil is cool. Apparently this game is sponsored by Energizer?

The variety of weapons from revolvers, shotguns, rifiles, flare guns, flares and flashbangs 

Secret routes that shine using the flashlight. 

Finding manuscripts which in turn becomes a real novel. The page are scattered everywhere which makes exploring the whole area worth wild 

Each episodes starts like a miniseries and he narrates everything he does. 

Each episodes starts of differently so you are never repeating the same thing 

What I didn't liked?

Controls is a bit clunky. You can't run but I guess that a design mechanic.

Ammo doesn't carry forward to the next episode

The ending... I don't get it. 

There are more bad guys than ammo so you'll end up running

Condensing a long comic book in 1 hour 30 mins is quite challenging 

What is it about?

Based on one of the best batman comics. A mysterious villain is wrecking in Gotham

The story is great but they need to cut a lot of holes

A lot of things are presented in snippets and someone needs to know the lore to appreciate the story

Quarantine Day 58

Yesterday I cooked a lot of food. I cook red sauce with spaghetti for the girls. for the adults I cook noodles and mince chicken in filo (murtabak) 

Well there are some hot spots over here that have high cases. So they are all quarantine off the areas affected. Where as in where my friends are. The states they seem to lift the stay at home order. People are now flocking the public areas. After two months of staying at home they are going out. This is a dumpster fire waiting to happen 

Won't You Be My Neighbor

A very wholesome movie about a wholesome person 

What is it about?

It's about a person called Mr Rogers who created the first educational tv show for kids in the 60s

The Good 

I've never seen any Mr Rogers show before but I've heard about him. He is a person who really respects kids as a person and treat them like adults. 

I do believe his way of teaching kids. He is really a kind and gentle soul 

The Bad

I hate how people portray him on the media. 

I do believe that not all kids shows can be like that. He is not advocate for violent shows but that's what made my childhood. I mean I am not that messed up

Yesterday I didn't cook again. Yesterday we ate some "tempoyak pucuk paku" and "bubur pedas sarawak" (you need to google both because explaining them is very difficult). Kids ate chicken korma 

So there are some assholes who are taking the relaxed MCO easily. They are not following the rules thinking its above them. So the police is not giving any second chances. After this anyone caught not obeying the law is going to get fined. My worries if they take away the MCO and we are left being stuck here again like always. That's the thing. 30% of the world are iditos. And those 30% are causing the 70% to suffer the consenquences.

Yesterday I didn't cook. We ate at mom in law's house. We ate 'nasi dagang'' and we got a lot for leftovers

The new normal is becoming normal for everyone. Some of them are coping well are some are not. As for me we are preparing for Eid so we are stocking up before the event. I got a lot of Eid biscuits which I can' wait to eat. Yum. With a lot of countries are starting to open their doors back to normal operations. One might wonder how bad this is going to be. In my own news which I can put anywhere else, my best friend ask me to have authority over his and his mom estate. I really say you don't have to be blood to be family. I was gladly to do that. That's all for now. It's really getting hard to write everyday. But I have commited. Oh in good news. Yesterday was our lowest case ever with only 16 infected and no deaths. Keep it up  

Quarantine Day 55

Okay blogger just changed their UI (User Interface) so it's going to take me a couple of days to get use to it. 

Yesterday I cooked fish curry and oat soup. Yummy as usual

So today in the news it shows that some world leaders believe that the vaccine may never come anytime soon and we need to be ready for the new normal. The earliest we can expect it  by 18 months (which would make it around October 2021). I am going to assume that there is going to be a time where everyone who got infected has already been infected. The problem with that is there are research shows that the virus can mutate and probably be resistant to the current vaccine so there is a lot of speculation now. I do know that over here they are trying their best in maintaining social distancing yet trying to live as normal as possible. But it's going to be hard. The say a second wave will be coming soon... that thought is just scary

Quarantine Day 54

Yesterday I made Lamb Biryani rice with a Prawn and mushroom wrap. Both were as always delicious

So the government has announced that the Movement Control Order is extended for another month until June 9th. That means this year Eid will be a low key event and no inter state travel is allowed. It good since we are nowhere near the numbers of a flat curve. Do I think one month is enough. Not sure since we've open the country and there are still more cases coming in.

Quarantine Day 53

Yesterday I didn't cook. We instead have spicy chicken from McDonalds.

So today the prime minister is going to give a speech at weather to extend the Movement Control Order for another 2 weeks or stop it altogether. The problem I have with this is self control. I mean who will enforce good behavior and social distancing if they remove the restriction. Yesterday however I went to do another round of groceries. Which is great since I get to do it further than my usual place.

Quarantine Day 52

Yesterday I cooked tomato rice with red sauce chicken and salmon with teriyaki mushroom served with quinoa

We are almost home free. Another 4 days and the movement control order will be lifted. But they are going announce something new either today. Cases are sparttic in a sense that our curve is now at the below 100s. My hope is that they extend it for another two weeks just to be extra safe. But the government has far more smarter people that me. I am sure they know what to do. As for me I am still hanging there. 52 days has been a cakewalk I guess. I keep myself busy.. keep myself entertained and try to keep everyone sane.

Yesterday I cook coconut curry chicken and some spinach soup.

With the ease of movement. Some places are trying to see they can get public gatherings back together again. Like going to the mosque and such. Hopefully the government will say no since our curve is going down well. It only takes 1 person to make it worse. In other news we have sick people running out from quarantine zones due to the fact they are illegals. So that's a problem... The good news is that everyone is practicing good social distancing.. Silver linings

Yesterday I cooked chicken rice. It didn't turn out like I wanted. The kids didn't enjoy it that much. Oh well. Sometimes there are hits and sometimes there are missed

I just figure out that writing 50 days about the pandemic is difficult. I mean there is nothing much to report rather than cases going higher and higher. Life won't be back to normal but really having my wife being flaky on me is really disconcerting.

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

This game has the best 16-bit music

What is it about?
I am assuming it a video game tie in the movie with the same name

What I liked?
The music. You start the game with Smooth Criminal (check in on YouTube) running. Get you pumping. Fun fact: the 3 world it was supposed to be Thriller but they have some licensing issue so they change it to a lower beat tune
Sound effects are awesome
The game is relatively easy and yet hard at the same time. You need to find girls who are hidden away in each level. They are hiding in doors, trunks and windows. So it takes a while to find them all
Micheal super move where you make everyone on screen dance with him

What I didn't liked?
The game is easy the first two stages. The third stage. The difficulty ramp up to 12. Enemies will be popping out of the screen and eventually you will die
And if you manage to get out of stage three. Stage 4 is even harder

Status: Played the game until stage 3

Fun Factor: Just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. But didn't age well.

Quarantine Day 49

Yesterday I cooked spaghetti two ways. First is the red sauce (bolognese) and the white sauce (carbonara) with meatballs and sausages on the side

It seems that in some places the cases are beginning to go down. As they say the curve is flattening. But I say it's because of the stay at home that is imposed by all the countries. Our country just ease the lockdown. So the cases won't pop up until next week the earliest. The good is that yesterday was our lowest reported cases by far. So the light is almost there. 

Cases is now at 3.7 million which is 0.06%. Still not even close to projections.

It's quite hard to emulate a 3D shooter when you only have one analogue stick

Death Jr needs to save his friends from something evil 

What did I liked?

The gameplay is quite fun. 

You have multiple projectiles to choose form which provide a variety in combat

There are a lot of platforming (when it works) 

Combat is fun 

What I didn't liked?

The PSP lacks a second stick so controlling the camera is hard and cumbersome 

The platforming works like 70% of the time. Most of the time you need to press the button as hard as you can to grab on something

The jumping sucks

Status: Played the game for a couple of hours 

Fun Factor: Not worth the time. Not one of the psp greatest. 

The Raid 2

A movie that I could predict what happened



What is it about?
An undercover police infiltrate a gang to stop it from the inside

The Good 
The fighting scene are spectacular and very bloody
The story is good but there are too many characters and plot points. So you can get confused pretty easily

The Bad
For a show about someone being undercover. There is little interaction during the undercover part
There is a couple of characters that don't need to be there and they just are filler.
The movie is 45 minutes too long.

The Ugly
As awesome as the fight scene was. It not logically how strong is the protagonist. He is like a machine. Even after being bruise, he still keep on ticking

After Credits: No

Verdict: Enjoy it for the action. The movie not so much

Quarantine Day 48

Yesterday I cooked chicken two ways. One with tumeric and one with soy sauce. Both of them I fried with potatoes and beans

Yesterday the whole country opened it doors. Malls are back in business. Offices are bustling with people. Basically it's business as usual but with social distancing put in the mix. We won't know any new cases until at least one week after the ease is imposed. Right now I am not going out since the are too many cars and people. The risk is not worth it. The funny thing is that the quarantine is going to end in one more week. 

Extraction

An intense action movie from start till finish



What is it about?
Tyler Rake needs to get a package out of the city. The problem is that everyone is after him

The Good
The Action is top notch. If you like John Wick you are going to love this movie
It gets your blood pumping and then calms it down for a while

The Bad
The ending its not to my liking but they did leave open ended.

The Ugly
In a real situation when you see a lot of bodies lying on the floor. You shouldn't' be going into the battlefield right

Quarantine Day 47

Yesterday I cooked vegetable soup for me and the wife. The kids got to eat arabic rice from my mother in law. So yay for them

Today I want to talk about anxiety and how this new normal is causing a lot of people to break. Some people are used to be outside and do normal things is going to find living in this conditions hard. No one can't help them but themselves. All you can do is support them in any way you can I guess. I really don't think things will ever be back to normal.

Solo A Star Wars Story

It has its flaws but its an okay movie



What is it about?
The story of a young Han Solo and how it all started

The Good
The action is good
Space flight is awesome
There are some parts of the story is good and some part didn't work out

The Bad
Han Solo is an okay character but the supporting cast did overshadow him
His motivation became weird after he found the girl. I mean he still wants a ship I guess
He is the best pilot and yet the way he is shown in is not organically

The Ugly
The cameo character really doesn't make sense if you don't know Star Wars lore. Heck neither did I
Lando young is not the same as Lando on episode V. At least Han does act the same like his older version
It was supposed to be a comedy (or has some funny bits) but I didn't find anything that funny

After Credits: No

Verdict: It's and enjoyable movie but it doesn't capture Star Wars like Rogue One did

Quarantine Day 46

Yesterday I tried something new. I made hand roll sushi. There are three types which is egg, chicken and salmon. It was yummy. But it turns out rolling sushi is quite hard.

So there are 106 new cases yesterday. They say not to panic but I feel a bit panicky. They also say that we won't be done with the virus until 2 years. 2 years that a long time. The problem is the virus spread easily and the cases will always go up. So in two years that means r x 559 days (which equals to two years) that means we are looking at 27 million infected.... on a good scale. Which on hindsight it's not that bad i guess. But being two years in a prisoner at your own house that something. 

Things that happen in April

So nothing much happened in April. Except a global pandemic. I did a seperate blog of the day by day activities but I can just give a summary here. Everyday life begins by cooking, cleaning and doing laundry. Sometimes when there are no more stuff in the kitchen. I have to make a quick grocery run. There will be time when I don't cook (usually once a week and that is when we take away outside). So that is usually the usual activity during the pandemic. The girls have online school so they at least have some structure in their life. The article that I was interviewed made it all the way to the New York Times. So I am quite famous for 15 minutes

Mostly been sending memes and pictures to friends. That's the only way to stay in touch. Video chatting with some of my overseas friends and checking up on them. This stay at home does make everyone feel a bit uneasy or anxiety. I played Final Fantasy VII remake and i turns out that's the only game I played. Watch a lot of twilight zone, silicon valley and a lot of movies. I need to start playing more games. Did some gardening from time to time and I found out that I don't like gardening. Oh and I cut my finger pretty badly. The idiot I am. I went around waving my hand like crazy. Which case a lot of blood to be splattered everywhere on the wall. My daughter took that opportunity to cover with some beautiful murals on the wall.

I did my annual anniversary gift to my wife. I can say I am rather proud of my work. So that's a bout what happen during this month. And fasting has started for a month and it will end in May. So more on that next month

Quarantine Day 45

Yesterday I cooked some chicken curry for the girls. There are a lot of leftover that can be eaten today

So there are a lot of people who don't agree about the ease in lockdown. The problem with this country is that a lot of people are idiots. They will treat this lockdown as being free since everything is open. Heck you can dine in.. Which is really a red flag. There are a couple of countries where their infection double after they ease the restriction. I don't see what's their endgame but we have just to wait an see.

Really the movie is not that long
The plotline is just too predictable and they added padding just to make it longer

The cowboy and the greek are not funny in this movie

I can see this spinning off but I think 3 movies is already enough

Verdict: It's an okay movie but I just watch it since I've seen the previous two

Quarantine Day 44

Yesterday I didn't cook. I did however groceries for my in laws. In return they gave us butter prawn, soy sauce beef and fried chicken. Which was so yummy

So today I want to talk about 3 things. Usually I have just a small blurb but today I have a lot on my mind

1) Today is labour day so its a holiday. This 3 days the government is allowing interstate travel for everyone to go back home. They are doing it in stages so hopefully everyone can get home in time. The thing is that I can already predict this will cause a congestion no only on the highway but all the shopping malls on the days. No idea if they can practice social distancing. But the good news is that the grocery shops are practicing small amounts of people coming in the shops.

2) The government last month announce that everyone with hire purchase loans can differ for 6 months. But yesterday the banks announce that you either differ for 6 months only to pay the lump sum on the 7th month or add 6 months extra on your current loan but at a newer rate on the 6th month. Both are crappy deals and really it doesn't help anyone at all. A lot of people are not getting paid and to add more on their monthly commitment is going to kill them

3) When will the lockdown be over? I hope even after there will be still lockdown in place. There are some country which ease down on their lockdown restrictions see an uptick in infections in a week (ie Singapore, Germany). I think this is really the new norm and its going to be a while until things really gets back to normal.
