Day 265: These are the days where I love coming to work

Today was an extension of yesterday's work. We need to figure out what was wrong with the system. I came to the office as usual. Did some work. Nothing happen in the morning since most of my meetings starts in the evening. Around the afternoon I was greeted with an ad-hoc presentation for a product that I have no preparation of. Day 264: Things always happen at the last minute

Yesterday was a good day in the beginning. I was quite sleepy since I didn't have enough sleep. But the office was calm and there is no work to be done. Until... Around 4 we got a complain from a customer saying that one of our products is causing a slowdown in his website. He was quite angry and wants us to come down to the bottom of it... So today I'm dedicating the whole day to solving this issue... At least I am not sleepy today

Day 260: Ninja Training

Just got back home after an awesome sales training day. Today our sales team got the privilege to go for "Ninja Sales" training conducted by a guy name Hanzo (Even his name sounds Ninja). this Hanzo character is very loud and enthusiastic. He and his partner Vernon are there to put us back to shape into a great Sales Machine

First Task

2 chairs 3 meters apart and our job is to throw rubber Surikens on to it. Every time  a person got all 3 Surikens on it, they have to yell "Sales!!" yo get a point. So the first round you need to give your target and see weather you can beat it or not. The first round every team gave a small target since they are not sure if they can do it. In my team in fact I am the weakest link. I keep missing the Surikens from the chair... The second round they change one of th Surikens to a 6 pointed one. I really suck at it and cost my team to be last. One of the trainers being all douche started getting angry at me. At the third round we got our act together and got 15 points.

Second Task

For the second task the trainers brought out some teakwondo plywood for us to break with our non dominant hand (left hand for me). We need to write down what's our target for this year and yell it out and break it. I can't show the video due to privacy issues.

Third task

By this time I was exhausted (during Fasting month). After got punished and doing some Tabata workout... The trainers got out some metal rebars. And they want us to bend it with our necks. Like the avatar. That was scary... I got paired with my CEO. He is a big fella and I'm like a small guy. We did it 3 times and failed. It probably due to the fact that I can't brace his weight with my legs. After the third time, the trainer as us to sit down and rest for a while. My neck was red for the bending. After 5 minutes we tried again. This time with the help for everyone cheering me on. To tell the truth. I feel like crying after I did it. Cause it hurts so much. I got to hug my CEO... That's a bonus. The CEO ask me to do it again with SD since he had no partner... The next round I did it in one try

After that the training was I've. We got our Red Belt in Ninja training and as a reward. We got to eat buffet at the hotel

Day 263: Professional Hacker Training

The only thing that happen today that was remotely interesting was the Hacking training I went in the evening. The guy who gave the class has 20 years of experience gave us a lot of insights

Among them are:

- Do not go and surf at questionable site. They could contain Ransomware. (Ransomware = a software design to encrypt your file system until you pay a fee to unlock it.. nasty stuff). There is a dangerous Ransomware called Locky which will encrypt all files and delete the original and will self destruct after finished.
- It is very easy to crack textbox username and password with a couple of free linux tools
- This is the best part. You can change the value of the payment gateway at your browser. You can actually give a value lower than what you spend.

Overall it was a good class... but it was just a slice. If you want more you need to pay the RM 5000 for the whole course which I doubt that my company is going to do that.

Day 262: My daughter broke her foot (almost)

Today sales meeting was fun since the big bosses are not around. Around 1145am my daughters school called and told me she is having trouble walking. So I rush backed home and went to the emergency room. Dr's say that she has a small fracture. Nothing to serious and she will be up and running by Thrusday

Finding Dory

Unforgettable... that what this movie is. This movie should be titled Finding Dory's Parents. The movie is more contained in one environment. As such the set pieces are not as big as the first movie but entertaining nonetheless. Marlins and Nemo serve as side characters in this sequel. Dory and a sectopus named Hank is the main stars of the movie. Knowing this is a Pixar movie they have all the checkboxes ticked. There are some funny moments, heart wrenching plot twist and happy ending. Great movie for kids and adults

Independence Day Resurgence

You know the saying bigger is better? Not for this movie. Bigger is always not that good... The movie suffers from having to many plot lines just to 1-up itself from the previous movie. They don't make us care about the characters. Everyone is expendable. The acting is not that great. The only redeeming quality about this movie is that the action and disaster porn is right on. But... Is not that great as the last movie. Overall you'll be entertained but you wonder to yourself what is it all for... Oh.. And the ending is a cop out way to defeat the aliens and it does set up the movie for the third installment

Day 261: Got a new laptop (again)

I didn't came to work on Thrusday since my neck was swollen from all the metal bending... So when I came back, I spend most of the day at IT transferring my old laptop to the new laptop. The new laptop is sleeker... But does not have a dvd drive. So I got an external drive for that...

Day 259: It's grilling time

RAlso know as mid year sales meeting. This year we are not doing to good. We are below 50% of our target and that is really worrying the management. A couple key words of the day are "complaisant" and "market research".but over all it was a good meeting. It wasn't as a bad as last year. And surprisingly fast. We also got a sneak preview at the new logo. Now we are pink (they say it's magenta, but my eyes see pink). Which means new stationary, cards and shirt. Which is cool but I don't think I can pull off pink. 😅 today is another day of hotel meetings but this time is a sales training. I wonder what is in store for us today.

This movie builds on the first one but lack the magic that was in the first one. There are tricks but it is not as grand as the first movie. The card tricks in here are awesome but a bit far fetched. Lizzy Caplan is a good edition to the team. Daniel Radcliffe however did not make a good villain. He looks malnourished. Overall you will be entertained watching this movie but it does not have the same magic as the first one.

Day 258: Its the second week I've been busy

On Friday the work didn't stop till 3pm. A lot of small jobs which culminated into one big job. We have to get ready the slides for the big presentation this Monday (that's is going to be in another world of hurt)

Day 257: I don't remember what i did

Man... Yesterday went by so fast. Since I don't remember what I did. I did remember doing slides for Monday sales review meeting. Boss left early... I think I left early too. So that's about it... Oh yeah now I remember... Had a client came for a visit and I showed them around. That was awesome

Day 256: Longest visit ever

Today in the morning was the meeting that it was supposed to be held yesterday. We have to prepare something to present in the mid year sales meeting. We are given 30 mins so hopefully we can sweep though fast. At 230pm I have a meeting at our cyberjaya office. Went early to avoid a speeding moment. Arrived there way to early. When the guest arrived, they arrived with our sister company. With them they brought some eye candy which is DL. I could say she is good looking and she was there to loaded with the overseas customers. CK gave the 50 cent tour. This time I recorded everything since eventually he is going to ask me to handle it one day. The visit went on for around 2 hours. I even went to sections that I have not visitors before... Overall it was tiring day.

Day 255: Nothing eventful happen

Yesterday was just a normal day. I didn't have anything on my plate yet (until the boss called for a meeting at 4). And I was quite free and loose. My marketing manager is quitting her job so she is handing a big pet of the partner account to me... Now everything has to go through me first. This actually means that I have something important that I hold. Even though it doesn't generate money for us but still... Good time. The meeting at 4 was postponed so boss ask us to go home instead to break fast. I love my boss. He is awesome

Day 254: This is so above my pay grade

Today I had the opportunity to join a round table discussion on the best of the best minds about cloud computing. They are trying to decide on how to tackle the issue of cloud computing in the country. All the players are the in the higher echelon of their respective companies and field. The banter went on for hours and in the end there was no end result. I think its due to the fact that everyone can't decide something without showing their interest for their own respective company. Like there is a saying.. there is no free lunch... and also no one wants to do a job for free... In the end the meeting was great. There is another meeting in the next month to discuss on the committee members. I'll ask my friend ZN if she is interested to go again.

Oh yeah.. got my JBL headphones back... awesome

Day 253: Now everybody wants a piece of me

Well that took a while. 253 days. But of all days... It took Friday where I've been getting meetings here and there. Helping with reports and stuff. The boss is giving me more responsibility since one of it collegues is going to quit. I'm excited as well as scared since I'm in charge of this particular account. Any blowback will go directly to me. Which as always... Yippe... Happy weekend folks 

Day 252: Today is not a good day in the office

Well not me... My day has been awesome. My department is a bit stressed since there a lot of deadlines they need to meet up. So they are scrambling here and there. I heard some news that one of my friends may be getting the boot... That person is not meeting the sales quota for half a year. So that particular person is a bit depressed. I wish I could help by I don't know how. 

Day 251: The office is getting colder

Work was there. Not that much. But it was there. The funny thing is that I've been doing the same work for almost 1 weeks. It's just a rehash of the same proposal over and over again. But I do feel our partner is being pushy with the client. That makes one of our bosses (what's the right word for 'mengelabah') becomes all fidgety... Well don't say I didn't warn them. Other than that the office is becoming a bit colder. Probably due to the new aircond system on the roof. 

Day 250: Freedoooooooom

Yesterday I had a client meeting me KC. I was just there on observation basis. Since I'm trying my best to learn about other people's jobs. The meeting went well. Everything was jotted down. The clients wants to visit the other office in Cyberjaya at 2. From the main office I speed 130km/h per hour. I did manage to kill 7 minutes off. I was obviously late but it turns out the clients were later than me. The meeting ended at 3 and after that freedom...

After this level up will occur every 10 days. Like a normal MMORPG. The longer you play, the harder is it to level up. 

Day 249: First day without a hitch

Yesterday was the first day of Ramadan as well as a Monday. The first good news is that there was no sales meeting this week since half of the team were on leave. But I had a ton of work that needs to be done by Wednesday. So I couldn't hang out like I usually do. Another good news is today I get to go to our Cyberjaya office for a client meeting. So you know what that means. After the meeting I can go home. I do love my sales team. They are all awesome people. Oh yeah... I had a meeting that evening that I do not know what is it about. Need to have not responsibility in my plate 

Happy Ramadan Folks

Another year and we are bless with this holy month of Ramadan. Which means that work will be slow, try to finish some games on my list. Try laying low and stuff... 

Seeing people on facebook with their cool lives make me wonder...

Let's do a Marvel and play a game call what if...

What if... I'm 32 and I was single...

- I probably have a different circle of friends 

- I would be alone... Most of the time... Which would suck

But.. I am not alone. I'm blessed

I do believe that everyone is different. Some people may travel the world when they are young. While other may have a tens of millions of dollars. One day I will have the time to travel the world. I hope... In the meantime... I have experience the word to a 5 inch screen... Everyday is a new experience... 

Happy Ramadan... And this blog is just my way to just tell what I am feeling. I do hope one day I would get a stranger commenting on my mundane life... And I think I should start making it more mainstream.

Day 248: Holiday blues

Yesterday was the last day of work before my family vacation. I literally didn't do anything. Spend 4 hours talking to some people. Spend another 2+ hours having lunch. Came back did some email cleaning. And that was it... 430 I bid farewell to the office. Fun fact for next week, as of yesterday. There were 16 people asking for leave on Monday. Great day to go to work... Plus is it the first day of Ramadan 

Day 247: I am 2 days late again...

Man I really for to start remembering to blog all the time. What did I did for Wednesday. Now I remember. Wednesday my boss is back so it was business as usual. The funny thing is that during lunch H1 left me and H2 without telling us where was he going. We ended up chasing him close to KLCC area. It turns out that he has a date with one of his exes. I do not condone any dating with exes without telling the wife first. He was actually wanting to go to KLCC to pay his phone bill. It was a good trip. I treat everyone ice cream. Yum
