Day 246: Man it's a tiring day

Today I am back at the usual place subbing for my boss. The meeting supposed to take place in 3 days. But we got news that the client wanted the proposal done by tomorrow. So we are condensing 3 day meetings to 1. Like my friend said... It's time to vomit blood. There is a lot of information overload that we are getting. The problem is that we have only one big manager to do the proposal. I pity her since she has a lot on her plate. Wish I could help. Hopefully tomorrow we can iron out everything. Well today I took the train since I know parking over there is going to be way expensive. I was right... It was close to 40 bucks. My train ticket was not cheap either. Good thing this is not a usual occurrence. Night everyone...

Day 245: A day full of checklists

Today I have a lot of things to do... Everything is planned carefully and I've made sure that I will finish it on time. Today I was solo since both H & H are on leave. Good thing RJ was here. He invited me for lunch. He was not feeling well too so after lunch he decided to take off. Tomorrow is another day me subbing for the boss again... This time I'm taking the train...

What is it about?

Cylindrical stage shooter where your objective is to save the last humans 

Game consists of

- Shooting

- Save the last humans 

What's good: 

- Fast paced gameplay

- Cool voiceover girl 

- Lots of particle effects and lots of polygons 

- Action at 30Fps 

- Variety of bosses

- Multiplier makes you think in your feet 

What's bad: 

- Nothing much... Great game

Status: Finish all 5 stages with 6 million in score. Could be better 

Score: A rare gem. Worth to be played multiple times

The Lego Hobbit

Better than the movie 

Game no: 163

Genre: Action

Platform: PS Vita 

What is it about?

2/3 of the Hobbit movie in Lego form 

Game consist of:

- Short 5 minutes burst of situations from the movie

- Puzzle solving 

- Lego building 

- Character switching 

- Fighting 

What's good:

- The cutscene are well animate and with actual voiceover from the movie.

- Each character has different abilities 

- The overlay map is fill with extra feature

What's bad:

- The controls are a bit clunky 

- The quest are a bit hard to complete.

Status: Got 108/375 bricks and defeated Smaug. The ending is different from the movies.

Score: A great way to waste your time 

Day 244: Substitute for the boss

Today there was a meeting that I had to go since my boss in on vacation on a nice island (well I think Phuket is an island). He asked me to take notes. And take notes I did. Everything they say it was in my notepad. The building that I went was wired... We need to go to M1. Take a lift to 13. Register at the guard. And take another lift to 40... And next week we have 3 more days of this meeting. 

Update: Send the minute meetings email last night. Woke up this morning and got praises all around. Awesome way to end the week

Day 243: Great day in a hotel but...

Yesterday we had a seminar for a potential cilent for one of our products. The event took place at a nice hotel. There were free flow food and drinks... The session was good. Every bigwig in my office came...

VH came at 1pm and by that time it was time to go have lunch. Lunch was a buffet and it was awesome. But I do notice that the older I get the more I can't eat that much. Here is the pictures of food that I consume 

After lunch my boss call me for an important assignment. He was going on leave on Friday, and he ask me to substitute him in a meeting for 3 days... 😅. I was already going to have plans of partying today... I was happy to obliged...

Man I have a lot of proposals to do...

Day 242: I'm drawing blank

This is what happens when you are two days late in blogging. I already vaguely remember what did I do on Wednesday. I remember, I had to carry the stuff of the seminar on Thrusday. Those things were heavy.. oh yeah now I remember what happen

My car broke down. The battery is going to die. So I had to drive it to the service center and for my first time took a uber to get my wife's car. Man uber is awesome and cheap. In the morning I got in a normal Proton Saga but in the evening after coming back from work. I got in a BMW 3 series. The best part is I only have to pay 7 bucks for each trip...

I got my pay today so that was good. With it my backdated increment which combines everything is a lot of money. I havent even finish April's bonus money...

Day 241: Adventures in lunching

Yesterday my HR lady ask me to accompany her to visit our collegue that had a stroke in the hospital. I said yes and invited the usual posse. Once at the hospital, what we saw was very grim. I really hope that his family is hanging in there. I also hope that I won't be in that position to experience that. After the visit, we went for lunch. Due to the fact is already 1pm and everyone is hungry. We went all around KL until we came to the National Monument (Tugu Negara in Malay). On the peak of the mountain there isa place that sells fish head curry by the kilo... Since they were all out for the 50 dollar head. We have other stuff that was in the menu... Overall good lunch

Day 240: Time flies when you have work

The sales meeting was only 10 minutes long since half of the team were unaccounted for. I had some work that had to be done. So the bulk of the morning was doing that. In the evening I was studying for a client meeting at the end of the week. Low and behold is 4pm and it's time for me to make like Fred Flinstone and yabba dabba my way down a dinosaur tail.

X-Men Apocalyspe

This movie does match the source material but... it went way overboard with the exposition. There are segments that just drag this story longer than it needed to be. The action does not start after an hour worth of useless blahing. In my opinion they needed that just to catch up on casual movie fans. The comic fans already know what is this all about. The did a good representation of teen cyclops and jean gray. The Quicksilver scene in this movie is damn awesome... The CG needs work. In the end, the hero of this movie is not the X-Men.. Is Magneto, since without him, we won't get into the whole mess of destroying the earth. Apocalypse looks ok for a practical effect guy but I do wish the went the CG route and make it like the hulk in the avengers movie...

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

The only reason to get a PS4

I am going to properly write a review on this game.

Genre: Action Adventure

Platform: PS4

What is it about?

Nathan Drake has settled down and is now living the domestic live. Suddenly his  brother came back in the picture and they have to find the one treasure that started it all... The gold of Henry Avery 

Gameplay consist of:

Basic uncharted mechanics.

- Shooting 

- Cover hiding 

- Stealth

- Exploring

- Driving 

- Swimming 

- And a lot of jumping 

What's good:

- As you can see from above. The game looks beautiful. It is one of the most prettiest game on the PS4. It runs smoothly in 1080p at 30 frames persecond. Everything Drake touches be it mud, water or sand transfer onto 

Drake's clothes. 

- The locations that is in this game is the biggest ever. We start of in a prison and the. After that to Italy. We move to Scotland. From there on to Madagascar and then move to the middle of the ocean and end in a pirate island. Simply amazing and which brings me to the third point

- Pratically no load time in the whole story mission. Action and story is seamlessly integrated which makes you wonder which is the cutscene and which is the game. 

- The action is straight on awesome. There are 3 parts of it. First is the usual climbing part. Which is aided by a new item. The grappling hook to reach the far off ledges. 

Another new feature is the terrain that make you slide down. It requires precision timing to jump on to the next ledges. 

The next part is the combat. Which is done by 3 ways... Straight out shooting which is good if you like that sort of thing. The more better approach that is stealth. Where Drake will automatically crouch down under foliage. And lastly hand to hand combat. 

The last part of the action is the driving. UC4 has a couple of driving moments, weather it is boat or truck. The action is face paced and never disappoints. Except for the boat. There is a lot of exploration to do there.

- Lastly... The Story. This game makes you feel what the characters are feeling. Elena is beautiful in my opinion. The small subtle emotional movement that both she and Drake convey are fun to watch. Drake struggle to save his brother is also a gripping story. Plus the bad guy Rafè. That guy makes you want to shoot him yourself. The good thing is that this uncharted doesn't end with anything supernatural (not sure if uncharted 3 ending)

- a lot of extra features like pixel art and negative image to make you want to play again 

What's bad: 

- Nothing this is a masterpiece

What's just ok:

- The multiplayer is good but it just doesn't grip me enough. Is fun to play but I feel that I want to go back to the single player adventure 

- The game ends to fast... Well not really. It's around 15 hours in Moderate difficulty. But I wanted more... So that's just on my part

Status: Finish the game in 14 hours and 56 minutes. 

Score: A rare masterpiece. Worth to be played multiple times. 

Day 239: Finally a busy day

It's was a good day I though. Hang out until 4 and then leave. Well we had a breifing on something at 1045. It was boring as heck... It ended a bit late since the guy said we don't have a time limit. Went for Friday prayers. Got back and I though it was time for me to go home. Then one of my friends call me in for a quotation meeting. I had to a quotation and it was great. We had a couple of good laugh at one of collegue expense. My boss was also funny during that time. I had to leave the office close to 645pm. You can't win it all...

Day 238: Me and my big mouth

Today was an interesting day. I think all the bosses were around my area of the desk. This made me hard to do something else along the way. At least I could do some html and css programming. The interesting story that happen yesterday that I only found out today is this:

Our company receptionist DE was supposed to print some name cards for one of our HOD. The thing is DE ask for the title of the particular head but no one reply back. So DE as efficient as she is went to the intranet system to look at his title. Little does she know that the intranet has not been updated in months (years even). So after cards were made and given to the HOD. The HOD looked at the title and was upset. He then yelled at DE boss which then, DE's boss called her and yell at her. Everyone from the floor can hear it. The thing I don't get is if it was a project that cause a lot of money, I could understand the yelling. But these are $15 namecards which I think is not a big deal... It was not DE fault anyway since she was following the system. It was DE higher up (lets call her LS) was supposed to double check her work. Fast forward the HR lady found out... Rather being calm and collected and listen to what DE has to say, .... This is in my opinion a very low blow... She called the IT tech guys who are in charge of the intranet system. Ask them to change it NOW... Snapshot the current update and paste in an email saying that DE was blind and it was her fault all along... Wataffaaakkkkkk.... I like the HR lady but she really needs to work on her people skills... The funny thing is yesterday after I went down, I saw DE crying... I ask her what's wrong.... She said 'nothing'... Then I told her 'If its a your job don't waste time crying'.. you'll just fall on deafs ears... Man I as a jerk

Other than that we went for our first Emergency Response Training meeting. That went well and hopefully there are more things to come. 

Oh where is my big mouth comes in it... Well I was talking about work and CK told me I did a good job... and then he said let's do more jobs... so he gave me a task to do... Well got to earn that moolah somehow

Day 237: Crunch time

Basically yesterday I was helping my wife to finish her last parts of her phd. The whole team was not here in the morning. Should have come so early. I know today that my team won the at the office at the evening. Probably going to go home a bit early

Day 236: Good day as usual

Nothing weird to report. Among the things that happen today

1) help RJ to get a sales order form out and to find out that the SAP system is on the fritz
2) NH2 went to the wrong floor while I was in the lift. That was hillarious.
3) My team is AWOL again. Nobody was at the office except me. Which I am so not complaining

On a side note. One of our colleague which I just know by name suffered a stroke yesterday and he is currently in ICU. My thoughts and prayers goes to his family during this challenging time. I do wonder how HR is going to treat this. Since a stroke is practically impossible to be fully cured in the future...

Day 235: Was just the right amount of busy

Today is Monday. After the usual stuff. I had a proposal to finish. Done that. After lunch I was quite free. The icing on the cake is when my boss went out of a meeting. I had that free time to hell my wife with her phd. The funny thing that happen today is that one of my collegues NH needs to pass up his Mandarin quiz. He ask one of our chinese friends to do it. And she didn't even get full mark...

Day 234: Finished my work for this week

So on Thrusday (This is a couple days late) I finish reading the contract for CK. Did my proposal for the project that I was supposed to do and by 4pm I was off to home. The boss is not here the whole week. The bad news is my netheregions are still sore from that 5km last week. In Friday I ask for leave... Woot... Uncharted here I come 

Day 233: Another day another meeting

Yesterday starts of as usual. In the evening had to travel another 20km for a meeting. The meeting went well. It's was me (Malay) SD (Chinese) DVH (Indian). Very culturally diverse. Had to leave that area and travel another 60km to my house. Well the good news is at the office most of them are not here. There all went for training so what is left are just the peons and finance people.

Day 232: So close yet so far

I'm two days behind. On Tuesday I had a meeting that was 60km away from the office. After the meeting I convince my boss to work from home. Was planning to play Uncharted 4 but family matters came... Oh well

Day 231: Kay Pee Eye

Well 5th weeks the charm. After 4 weeks no work. I finally got meetings here and there. And I also have actual work waiting for me. Which is awesome I guess. My boss gave me a form for my KPI. No idea what I need to fill it up with. Just random stuff I guess. My boss is going to vet them through anyway.

Day 230: TGIF

Another week has ended and I am still relaxed. I've learn to just go with the flow. I am however looking at other sources of revenue. And if all goes well. I probably won't mind sitting on my ass.

Day 229: Just relax

Is it my fault that people are not giving work to me and I am relaxing? I don't think so. Does that mean I am useless? not at all. But if I do get a 2 next year in my evaluation I can probably blame the lack of work. Am I worried... I think I learn to live with it already... Nothing I can do about it but just ride the wave of no work... I get paid A crapload of cash to sit at my desk and learn stuff... Sign me up

Day 228: Learn some coding

I'm beginning to worry I don't have work. As long I show up to work and stay at my desk I should be ok. But today RJ taught me how to do html and cas. Which is awesome. I don't need a dummies book to learn stuff 

Day 227: Getting back to work is always the hardest

After 5 days off I am finally back to work. Man that sucks. I still want my leave. Well at least today I am busy with actual work. Which is good. Nothing else interesting happen since we start work on a Tuesday. The funny thing is when I came to the office all of my teammates are not in the office. I thought there were all on leave and left me behind. Then I found out they have meetings at the head office. So today I was free and easy. As always

What's good:

- The story is very interesting.

What's bad:

- The story is left hanging.

- The epilogue is also confusing.

Status: Finish the story and the epilogue. 

Score: Worth to be played at least once.
