History
Now we are going through my favorite type of gaming consoles. Handhelds.. We will start with the first of it kind. The Game Boy. My first encounter with the Game Boy was always around the holidays at my cousins house. He will have a copy of Super Mario Land and Aladdin. We need to bring our own batteries but it was possible to beat that game in a couple of hours. The Game Boy with its monochromatic green screen is a challenge to play with. The lighting needs to be just right to play it which means that I usually can't play during the night.
Games
For a console with only 4 shades of gray and two buttons there were a lot of games for this machine. Every genre that you can think off is here so there is a lot of variety.
The Good
All of Nintendo's games are of top notch quality and are still good to play until now. Konami is a close 2nd with also great games. Console ports which lacks is graphic fidelity but still great in gameplay. Rare also makes good ports of their SNES games
The Bad
Console ports which lacks in processing power. Framerate gets a bit choppy at times which makes the gameplay sucks. Games that really doesn't make sense to do it on a monochrome screens. It looks to chaotic on the screen.
The Ugly
First person anything. Nothing works in first person due to the slow framerate. Some games are borderline unplayable... The hard ass difficulty where you need cat like reflexes to beat the game.
Conclusion
Only 31 games out of the 555 that I could still play. The Game Boy will always be one of my great 8-bit portables. It doesn't stand the test of time but the memories will be there forever.
Gameboy ( 31/555 games) 5.59% replayability
Genesis
Neo Geo
Game Gear ( 257 games)
SNES
