This is one of those games which you either love or hate
Game no: 448
Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2017
From one of the PlayStation Vita exclusives come Gravity Rush 2. The sequel to the gravity bending game that you either like or don't like due to its game mechanic. You play as Kat the gravity queen who I seem not to remember what happen into the the end of the first game but over in the second game you start of having no powers and I couldn't figure out why. But honestly the story is just second nature to the gameplay which is why you stick around long enough. The gameplay consist of you manipulating gravity which you can use to do a lot of cool stuff like fly, kick and carry stuff over.
So there are a couple things I love about this game. I love the presentation of the game with it cel shaded graphics that makes everything come to live. Other than that each chapters (20 in total) is presented in an anime manga style book where there are no animations but just stills with dialogue. I really appreciate the tone that they are going for. Besides that the walking and fighting animation is super smooth. The missions are quite varied where you do a couple of stealth missions, escorts, the usual fighting and sometimes just doing random things. There are a lot of side quests that you can go to but the main game is close to 20 hours so you can either choose to do it or not. The gravity powers has also change with now you having light and heavy gravity power which each provide a different way of playing the game. The is a slide mechanic that I like but it takes a while to get use to it.
But this game has it flaws as well. The gravity powers will make your camera turn 360 degrees and will make you disoriented going to the next target. Sometimes in combat you'll end up not hitting the target since they are moving ad your kick has a certain range. Fighting enemies when they are flying is hard to get a lock on due to bad camera. Other than that some of the stealth sections have bad gameplay elements since they don't tell what you need to do. So it's basically a lot of trial and error. Finally the final boss (and probably some of the other boss fights) are just frustrating and you can spend a long time trying to defeat them
Even after all of this Gravity Rush 2 is a fun game. I enjoyed my time playing it and I did finish the story until the end credits. I didn't care much for the story so I give this game a B-tier. You can enjoy it for what it is just don't expect game of the year material.
