Jusant

A game about climbing

Game no: 557
Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2023

I have heard about this game for a while now. The premise seems interesting since we are just climbing up a tall structure until we reach the end. This is basically the gameplay but what makes this game intersting is that you need to figure out how to climb the tall mountain when there are not that many visible perches. This game is divided into 6 different chapters. Each chapter has its own unique climbing obstacles. There is one where the perchs are insects and are moving and you need to time your jumps carefully

What I didn't like about this game. Well nothing actually. This game is fun and in the end of the day that is a good thing. I didn't care about the story that much. They did leave a lot of lore scattered around the world but it didn't grab me as much. The path is not clearly shown and sometimes you will spend your times wondering around because you were lost.

However, this game has excellent climbing mechanics. The climbing alone is worth the price of admission to the game. The stamina meter makes you need to plan your climbs properly and know when to stop and went to give it the one final push. The game is under 4 hours which is good since it doesn't overstayed its welcome. Overall I like this game and it is one of the ones tha tI am glad I tried. This game deserve an
A-Rank

God of War (2018)

Playing this again before Ragnarok

Here is my review of the game here

Game no: 487
Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2018

Rather than write about what made the game great and frankly this game is still a masterpiece. I will write about what I want the next game will be and see if they improve on it

  • A better map system. I don't mind if it's not specific but at least tell what we are missing
  • More enemy variety
  • Close all the plot points of the story
  • Upgrades that makes it easier to do. In the previous game you have no resources to upgrade the system and usually you don't know what to do.
  • An easy mode that is actually easy
That's about it. I think if they made that this game is going to be a masterpiece from me. It's already an S-Rank so far. Let's see if they elevate it

Resident Evil VII

I think this is the first and last game I'll watch

Game no: 485
Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2020

Frist of all I am going to say that I didn't play this game at all. I started the first 30 mins and then I said that this was too scary for me. So I did the next best thing is watch someone else play this game. So this review may be skewed a bit because watching someone else makes the game less scary. Don't get me wrong this game is still scary but when you are not in the driver seat, it becomes more barrable. So in this game you play as Ethan Winters who is trying to find his wife Mia who was missing for more than 3 years. You explore a abandon house with puzzles and traps really like the first Resident Evil

This game does play like the most RE games where you go to a room, find a key item and see where does the key item belong. What makes REVII different than the rest is that it is a first person view. While most of the games come with a thirds person view where you can be aware of your surroundings. This game mostly you are confide to the view in front of you. That means that you can't see who is behind you which in turn means that's where the jump scares get you. You'll find weapons, and herbs to aid you along the way. With a compelling story makes you want to push through even you are scared.

What I didn't like about this game is that, as much they try to put realism in this game. The main character is more like a cartoon figure. His body parts can be dismembered and yet can be stick again like glue. This game have more hand gore porn than I've seen in a while. There is only one enemy type which is good but it get's repetitive after a awhile.

So the question is I have seen the ending, will I actually play this game. The answer is yes but only if there is someone next too me. But I don't have anyone to play with me so I think is going to be a while. Maybe in 20 years I'll check the game again. I gave the game a B-Rank but this is one of the best RE games that is ever made. Too bad I am too scare to play it.

Batman Arkham Knight

I did a previous review of this game 7 years ago

Old Review

This is the day... This is the day I say goodbye to the Batman

Game no: 480
Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2015

I played this game 7 years back on my PC when it first came out (and then I ask for a refund due to me finishing the game). This game was great so I decided on my birthday month to go and try my hand at it again. I can say that this game gets better after 7 years. Everything about this game still holds up. The combat ever so great, the story is still one of the best in a trilogy (Not counting Batman Arkham Origins) even the Batmobile sections are awesome.

This time its different then before that this time I was determine to get all 243 Riddler trophies for doing all kinds of weird stuff around the city. I had a guide so I won't go aimlessly around but even with a comprehensive guide it still took a while to complete it all. Some are tedious. Some are fun and some are just downright frustrating. Anything involving the Batmobile is frustrating because the tank really controls like a tank. Batman also somewhat does control less fluid but I don't mind that since Batman is built like a tank itself

In the end if I can rate my 5 batman games it would be Arkham 5) Origins, Blackgate 4) Asylum 3) Origins 2) City 1) Knight. This is the definite game that you need to try if you are a Batman fan. Some people won't like the Batmobile sections but I think it breaks the running around on foot sections. I don't know if I want to give this game a spot in my top 10 list because I've played it before but I think I may just do. In the end I finished 100% of the main mission, 100% the DLC and got all the freaking Riddler Trophies. I think I am Batman. Which makes me think that the next time I revisit this game it would be 15 years or more. Since I don't think I want to play any Batman game for the time being (Gotham Knights its a maybe)  This game does get an S-Rank from me. One of my favorites of all time

Until Dawn

Choose your own horror story adventure

Game no: 478
Genre: Adventure
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2015

A year ago a group of friends went to the mountain and two of them disappeared. Now a year after the group of friends return to the scene to honor their memory. After that that when thigs start to go crazy

Until dawn is a choose your own adventure where the controls are only moving using the right stick. Picking up items using X and R2 and QuickTime events using button prompts when you are in a tense situation. Other than that the game doesn't let you deviate to much from the script. There are branches of options to choose from which will effect the outcome of the story and each choice you make is a butterfly effect (a concept where they try to tell you over and over again). This game was meant to be replayed again after you finish a run. But even though the story is interesting in the first half, once you get to experience the story again there is no reason to come back to it. You'll probably will want to reply this only to try to save the people you lost (that apparently is the good ending)

The things that I like is the storyline and the gameplay method. You really just can play this game lying on the back of the chair and just relaxing. As for the horror elements I am going to say that once you know what is the McGuffin is. You won't be scared. There are a lot of jump scares but you can probably see it a mile away. The lore doesn't make sense (or probably I didn't get all of the clues of it to make sense) but it's a game so is either you enjoy it or you don't.
I manage to finish the game until the end credits with only 3 out of 8 survived (I was an error in my part). Play this game with someone if you like scary movies and you want an interactive experience. I will give this game a B rank.

Knack 2

Well it's a better sequel

Game no: 458
Genre: Platformer
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2017

You play as the polygon shape changing hero Knack and it continues the story from the first game (which is weird since the first game didn't have a continuation to it) The gameplay is the same from the first game but a lot of improvements from the first game. Now you cubes can be summon after you become small which plays a lot on gameplay. You can't attack when you are small knack. The minimum height is around 5 feet (they have a display of the height this time which the max is 33 feet) There are a lot of puzzles on which if you get stuck on for a long time there is a hint system that shows you step by step on what you have to do. There is a skill tree now which boost your attack skills but its too long to get. The graphics is a bit different from the first game. Gone are the cartoony look and now it's a bit more realistic graphics. Knack still looks the same though. Combat is fun as ever in which you need to use multiple combos to beat a lot of different enemy types. There are also vehicles segments which is fun to ride. Your knack abilities are back where you can absorb other elements.

There are a couple things that I didn't like. The skill tree takes forever to build up. I think this game meant to be played twice. The story is okay and also spends multiple months which is strange for a game. There is a scene where you are stuck for 4 months. In the end the game is just a nice game to play. I played this game until the end credits and I give this game a B-rank which is good enough to entertain you.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

The end of the trilogy

Game no: 455
Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2018

The final chapter of the Tomb Raider reboot saga. Lara and Jonah finally found the lost treasure that Trinity is looking for. You start the game in a globe trotting adventure across multiple different locations with lush scenery.

This time you explore a lush rainforest jungle but the same Tomb Raider gameplay where you gather resources. craft weapons and materials and explore tombs. Controls are tight and the action is fast paced. I think the only thing that change from the past games is that the bow and arrow are a bit to sensitive and now underwater sections are longer. I love every moment of the game when I am playing the game. IT is fun. Action and stealth sections is great. They also have a difficulty slider so you can make this game as easy or as hard as you want.

There are a couple things  I didn't enjoy about this game. One of the facts that this game is more cluttered and tight at the same time. The stages are so overwhelming with things to do but yet I don't feel like doing anything. I just wanted to finish he story as fast as I can. Another thing is that I have an issue is that there is a lot of cutscene in this game that playing a section for a couple of minutes will involve another cutscene for another couple of minutes. It is so annoying since it makes me fall out of the action. The story is hit and miss. I wasn't interested then and the ending was a bit anticlimactic

Finish the game until the end credits. I would give this game a A-rank since it was fun and I enjoyed my time

Tomb Raider vs Uncharted which is better

I say if you want action gameplay without too much thinking. Go uncharted. If you want a realistic settings and systems that come into play take Tomb Raider. I've played both and each is fun in it's own way.

Gravity Rush 2

This is one of those games which you either love or hate

Game no: 448
Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2017

From one of the PlayStation Vita exclusives come Gravity Rush 2. The sequel to the gravity bending game that you either like or don't like due to its game mechanic. You play as Kat the gravity queen who I seem not to remember what happen into the the end of the first game but over in the second game you start of having no powers and I couldn't figure out why. But honestly the story is just second nature to the gameplay which is why you stick around long enough. The gameplay consist of you manipulating gravity which you can use to do a lot of cool stuff like fly, kick and carry stuff over.

So there are a couple things I love about this game. I love the presentation of the game with it cel shaded graphics that makes everything come to live. Other than that each chapters (20 in total) is presented in an anime manga style book where there are no animations but just stills with dialogue. I really appreciate the tone that they are going for. Besides that the walking and fighting animation is super smooth. The missions are quite varied where you do a couple of stealth missions, escorts, the usual fighting and sometimes just doing random things. There are a lot of side quests that you can go to but the main game is close to 20 hours so you can either choose to do it or not. The gravity powers has also change with now you having light and heavy gravity power which each provide a different way of playing the game. The is a slide mechanic that I like but it takes a while to get use to it.

But this game has it flaws as well. The gravity powers will make your camera turn 360 degrees and will make you disoriented going to the next target. Sometimes in combat you'll end up not hitting the target since they are moving ad your kick has a certain range. Fighting enemies when they are flying is hard to get a lock on due to bad camera. Other than that some of the stealth sections have bad gameplay elements since they don't tell what you need to do. So it's basically a lot of trial and error. Finally the final boss (and probably some of the other boss fights) are just frustrating and you can spend a long time trying to defeat them
Even after all of this Gravity Rush 2 is a fun game. I enjoyed my time playing it and I did finish the story until the end credits. I didn't care much for the story so I give this game a B-tier. You can enjoy it for what it is just don't expect game of the year material.

Middle Earth Shadow of War

If you love the source material you love this game

Genre: Action
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2017

Well when I first played this game I found out that this game is a sequel to another game (Middle earth Shadow of Mordor) and this follows the events after what happen in the last game. You play as Talion a Ranger (think Aragon but less good looking) where you need to stop Sauron's forces of Orcs during the battle to conquer middle earth. Look I am not LOTR fan but from what I gather that this game takes place before the fellowship of the ring where there were a lot of smaller rings and the hero is trying to find them? stop them? Really the plot is complicated since I don't know where in the timeline this game is from.

This game is basically you are task with a objective. You complete the objective and you move on to the next objective. During your quest you encounter a lot of orcs (or uruks as they say) and they will try to stop you by killing you every chance they get. What makes this game special is the nemesis system. This system is patented by Monolith Software (makers of the game) where essentially if you kill/spare or be killed by someone they will remember it and find you again to either get revenge, be your friend or just taunt you. I really enjoyed the dialogue since it is super funny and every character is unique in it's own way. You'll never find two of the same captains which on the quest. Combat is basically like the Batman Arkham series where one button you hit, one counter and one evade. The only difference is combat is not as fast as batman since you are swinging a sword. From what I gather you are also part ghost so you have ghost powers as well. The ghost is an elf by the way which makes you have abilities like faster climbing, running, tracking and magical arrows (which sucks since you only can shoot like 5 a time). You tasks consist of stopping hordes of orcs form attacking the base. Find the captains and kill each one of them

The thing that made me quit the game is that besides going from point A to point B there is nothing much else you are doing. The gameplay is set in a repetitive loop where if you are a fan of the game it can be quite fun. But as for me after a couple of hours in upgrading your weapons, armor and stuff you find that is just the same thing over and over again. Oh what gets me is that the menu system. This is probably the most convoluted game I have played. There are lot of things to keep track of. Each orc has their own strength and weaknesses. There are also a lot of add on to your weapons, abilities and system. It is basically one big mess of things you need to keep track on. I saw the review that a couple more hours of gameplay you have the ability to recruit more orcs and they can aid you in battle. Basically this game as a lot of sim elements and not just a simple action game. They say that this game have microtransactions but so far I haven't found any.

In conclusion that the source material didn't get me. After playing a couple of hours  I am not a fan of Tolkien work and while I enjoy the movies this game really falls on a C-Tier list. If you have the time and patience you can actually finish the game. It is fun. But again you are practically doing the same thing over and over again. So not for me I guess.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Is more or less the same from the previous game

Game no: 439
Genre: Action
Platform: PS$
Release Date: 2015

What is about?
Lara seeks to find what his father failed too

What I liked?
More of the same tomb raider gameplay but since this time she is not surviving against the elements and the people it seems like another action game.
Combat is fast paced and the enemy AI is really challenging even in easy mode
The story is okay. Nothing too special but it is enjoyable
Using the bow and arrow
The DLC is fun but I wasn't interested in the story

What I didn't liked?
The map is not as open world and you use the save points to travel from one place to another. The problem for me is that there is no incentive to go exploring away from the main story path
Upgrading takes a while
The last puzzle was very confusing

Status: Finish the main game and the DLC

Fun Factor: If you love the first game you will like this one as well

Dirt Rally 2.0

One of the realistic rally games that I've played

Game no: 423
Genre: Racing
Platform: PS4
Release Date: 2019

What is it about?
A rally game that is realistic

What I liked?
This game is super realistic. You can't just floor it because every move will effect the handling and speed of your car
The choices of car. They range from old to new. Slow to hyper fast.
The rally stages even though is less variety but each of the different discipline of road is available
Rallycross is fun

What I didn't liked?
The game is so difficult. A split second mistake will make your car skid of the road
The RW cars are difficult handle
Which there were more tracks

Status: Played a good chunk of rally and rallycross. This game really doesn't have an ending

Fun Factor: One of the best rally games I've played
