What I liked?
The fighting is fast paced and responsive
Each turtle has their own  unique fighting style 
The bosses are challenging but not that hard 

What I didn't liked?

It is repetitive but fun so it is okay

Fun Factor: A simple and fun game. Worth to be played to players 

Street of Rage 3

I think the 3 one is the best

What is it about?
Mr. X has terrorize the city and its up to the heroes to save the day 

What did I liked?
You have rolls up and down to avoid attacks 
You character has more combos and not just a simple one hit button 
Each of the character have different move sets

What I didn't liked?
The stages are also dangerous. You'll end up dying due to the environment 
If you play on easy you won't get the true ending 

Status: Finish the game on easy difficulty 

Fun Factor: Fun to play alone but really you need to be good in this game 

Street of Rage 2

A better game but still hard

What is it about?
Same premise as the first game but this time there are a couple of new friends that are joining you

What did I liked?
Sprites are bigger and hit detection is better
Specials now burn which is better
Each character have different abilities 

What I didn't liked?
Flying enemies are still hard 
The game in general is very difficult 

Status: Game over in Stage 5

Fun Factor: Play this with two people. It is more fun 

Streets of Rage

The game is fun but hard

What is it about?
Ex-police vigilante help to take out the gangs in the city

What did I liked?
The game is simple enough and the amount of bad guy is varied 
The special are awesome but it looks weird when it is on a ship 

What I didn't liked?
The hit detection is not that good. 
The game is very hard. The boss battles are impossible to win 

Status: Didn't finish the game

Fun Factor: It is a fun game if you play with another person 

 

Sonic & Knuckles

I liked Sonic 3 better

What is it about?
Sonic and Knuckles teaming up together to save ember island 

What I liked about it?
Classic Sonic gameplay 
We can use Knuckles now 

What I didn't liked?
The game is more for Knuckles than Sonic since the stages are not that fast. Most of the old Sonic games are design like this 

It gets hard after a while. Platforming control is not good

Rock n' Roll Racing

A great racing game for the 16-bit era

What it is about?

A racing game with sick synth rock tunes 

What I liked?
The racing is face paced
The weapons provide a certain amount of strategy in it 
The music is old classic rock but with a chiptune sound. Loving it 

Upgradeable cars and weapons

What I didn't liked?
Progression takes a while. So it takes a while to go to the next race. 

Status: Finish the game on rookie mode 

Fun Factor: A genesis classic 

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

This game has the best 16-bit music

What is it about?
I am assuming it a video game tie in the movie with the same name

What I liked?
The music. You start the game with Smooth Criminal (check in on YouTube) running. Get you pumping. Fun fact: the 3 world it was supposed to be Thriller but they have some licensing issue so they change it to a lower beat tune
Sound effects are awesome
The game is relatively easy and yet hard at the same time. You need to find girls who are hidden away in each level. They are hiding in doors, trunks and windows. So it takes a while to find them all
Micheal super move where you make everyone on screen dance with him

What I didn't liked?
The game is easy the first two stages. The third stage. The difficulty ramp up to 12. Enemies will be popping out of the screen and eventually you will die
And if you manage to get out of stage three. Stage 4 is even harder

Status: Played the game until stage 3

Fun Factor: Just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. But didn't age well.

Jurassic Park

A movie tie in game that has a lot of dinosaurs

What is it about?
Following the events from the first movie. Plus a couple of scene there is not in the movie.

What I liked?
Multiple weapons that provides different type of damage
Multiple dinosaurs ranging from the small to T-Rex
T-Rex is awesome when he pops out
The motorboat section is quite fun
Can choose either ti play as the human or a raptor

What I didn't liked? 
The game is quite hard. Landing at the wrong place will make you lose your health
No checkpoint system which causes you to restart back from the beginning if you died
Some weapons doesn't have any effect

Fun Factor: It's not a bad game. Worth a playthrough

Granada

A fun game if you can survive the horde of enemies

What is it about?
You play as a tank and you are stop an alien invasion.. I think?

What I liked?
They are very generous with the health bar. But the hordes of enemies are a lot
Two type of cannons. A rail cannon and a heavy cannon

What I didn't liked?
Nothing much. Its an ok game but it's quite hard

Status: played until I hit the game over screen

Fun Factor: I think you can get good at it. But it get bored over time.

It's been a while since there is a pinball game here

Its a pinball game but the theme is more fantasy like. This is going to be a short review

What I liked?
Controls are tight
There are 3 levels of the table with each giving a different type of challenge
Lots of bonus stages

What I didn't liked?
Sometimes there can be too much things happening on screen.

Fun Factor: If you love pinball this should be worth checking out

Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse

An easy platformer for the genesis

What is it about? 
Mickey needs to rescue Minnie inside the castle of illusion

What I liked? 
Easy controls. It’s a simple platformer where you jump and avoid obstacles

What I didn’t liked? 
Controls are floaty. Not that precise

Status: Finish the game on easy. It turns out medium and hard gave you extra stages

Fun Factor: Played once, it’s not memorable

After Burner

I was checking this against my own database and saw I miss out a game... so here is a quick review

What is it about? 
You play as a f18 fighter jet who needs to shoot other fighter jets

What I liked? 
Gameplay is fast and precise

What I didn’t like?
Gameplay is hard... nothing much besides getting to point A and point B

Fun factor: Not worth the trouble of playing it

Shinobi III - Return of the Ninja Master

I love ninjas

Game no: 321

What is it about?
Ninja master Shinobi comes back to defeat evil

What I liked?
The gameplay is a mixed of platform jumping, wall climbing and double jumping. Jumps need to be made precisely in order to avoid certaindeath
The combat primary consists of projectile weapons. Shinobi will only use his sword and kick if he is jumping or running.
Shinobi has 4 ultra move which consist of fire, thunder, wind and speed which provide massive damage and it usually used as the last line of defense
There are run and gun sections such as the horse aand the surfboard
The bosses are bigger than life and there are enough variety in dealing with them.

What I didn't liked?
Falling to your death. The game doesn't have terrible control so mostly when you fall is because you missed the platform.
Stage 5 in the castle. One wrong move and you'll get lost and have to repeat it all over again.

Status: Finish the game until the end credits/

Fun Factor: A great Genesis game and still worth to be played right now

Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament

This game is faster than F-zero

What is it about?
Micro racing around everyday places and items.

What I liked?
The choices of cars and tracks are surprisingly varied. Cars range from dragsters, formula one cars and dump trucks
There are a lot of different tracks that provides enough twists and turns. I especially love the tracks on the dining table.
Racing is a lot of fun if you get the layout of the track.

What I didn't like?
The race is extremely unforgiving. One wrong move and you are gone. The races gets harder and faster over time. Unless you have lightning like reflexes there is no chances in winning the race.
The cars also have very sensitive handling. One extra wrong turn can make you fall down a cliff which sucks because fundamentally the game does play well.
The tree house stage sucks. The helicopter is hard to control and the wind effects really makes racing difficult.

Status: Finish all the races

Fun Factor: This game is not that fun unless you know what is their track layout

Contra Hard Corps

I think this game is one of its kind

What is it about: A standard contra game but with an actual storyline 

What's great: 

- 4 different characters with different play styles
- 5 different powerups that stay with you until you die. Each power up comes with a different ability
- Story has multiple paths, there is even a part where you can join the enemy

What's not so great: 

- Bosses are hard
- You will die a lot

Music: Ok 

Status: Finish the game with the good ending

Should you play this game: No, this game does not age well. 

Fun Factor: Great art style, decent game

Comix Zone

I think this game is one of its kind

Game no: 280

Genre: Action 

Platform: Genesis

 

Difficulty: Hard 

What is it about: A comic book artist gets  trapped by the bad guy he drew in his own comic.

What's great: 

- Art style is unique. You fight in different panels of the comic 

- Solve puzzles to advance the pages of the comic books

- Use your rat to find hidden items in the comic pages

- Fighting is face pace and there are many different moves to fight your way through 

- Use items such as a knife, bombs, dynamite and the power glove (that turns you into a superhero)

What's not so great: 

- The hitboxes are not that precise. Enemies will block most of your attacks. You'll end up button mashing the game

- Hitting anything that is not moving will cause your energy to drain out. Which makes it frustrating 

- Some requires you to use half of your life bar in order to progress.

- Some of the enemies are cheap 

Music: Ok 

Status: Finish the game with the bad ending. Watch the good ending at YouTube

Should you play this game: No, this game does not age well. If you want to check out the art style, sure why not 

Fun Factor: Great art style, decent game

Chiki Chiki Boys

A very pleasant game. It's been a while since I posted

Difficulty: Moderate 

What is it about: No idea what's is it about but you play as a kid who likes playing dress up and needs to make his way on the tower 

What's great: 

Combat and platforming are spot on 

You have a power move that shoots balls

Stages varies from walking, flying and swimming 

Bosses provides a certain challenge 

You collect coins to buy upgrades

What's not so great: 

Nothing much... It's a solid action game 

Music: So-so

Status: Beat the game 

Should you play this game: yes, it's a feel good game that is fun to play

Castlevania: Bloodlines

Super Mario Odyssey is an awesome game... Well while other are enjoying this great game I am playing another game that was also great during its time

What is it about: Follow two different characters as they travel around the world to fight Dracula minions

What's great:
Is not a typical Castlevania game where you travel in different locations fighting bosses. There are 6 Stages in total
Choose from two characters, John Morris who uses the Vampire Killer and Eric Lecarde who use a lance
The sub weapons have two types of different


What's not so great: 
The game does not age well.
The physics of the game is very wonkey. When you fall from a ledge you will drop down splat on the ground.

Music: Masterpiece... There are a couple notable soundtracks. There even taken some sound form the SNES game
Status: Finish the game with John Morris
Should you play this game: No, there is no fun in dying multiple times

What's is it about: Minnie has been kidnap and you need to get 7 emeralds to free her

What's great:
Platforming is very precise. A sudden misstep can spell disaster
You also have a projectile to attack enemies
Jump once and jump again to do a but stop
The game is very very linear. You really can't get lost

What's not so great:
Hit detection is very precise. A single mistake and you will lose your life
The bosses are too easy. There is a pattern for everything
Some items cause you to instantly die

Music: Ok. Lots of organ tracks
Status: Finish the game and rescued Minnie
Should you play this game: No, it's not that fun.
