Day 391: That was unexpected

Today is the day. Today is the first day for the n next 60 days. I finally gave my letter of resignation. It was long overdue. After not taking it personally and need to do some initiative. I decided it was time to move on. My boss was busy with meeting and when he steps out of the meeting room and gave my letter. In my mind there were a couple of things that he is going to say 

Scenarios 

"Can we talk about this?"

"Is there anyway I can ask you to stay" 

"Let's see how can we improve you"

Mostly something positive. 

The real thing that happen

Me: " here is my 2 months notice"

Boss: "why?"

Me: " I am planning to do my masters"

Boss: " Is this because you got a 2"

Me: "Part of it yes but I think it's time for me to move on"

Boss: (This is the kicker) " you know why you got a 2 right. Because your work is not to my standards" 

I was flabbergasted. Shocked and kinda lost for words. It's like he has a vendetta against me leaving. Then I said ok and left. But telling my friends they were shocked that my boss said that. It's like he was saving that for ever and just eating for the right moment to blurt it out.

Oh well. That shows Allah is great and showed me that this is what is going to happen if I stayed longer...

I felt happy. The first time in 390 days. I felt like a burden has been lifted. Now it's my honeymoon days... Great days

Day 200: I'm leaving on a jet plane

I've made it to another 100 days since my last 100 day post. A lot has happen during this time. I feel that I've grown as a employee and as a person in a sense. I was supposed to do a special on the people around my office. But I am going to save that for the next 100. The new update for today is that I got moved to another desk. This desk is way at the back and I am a table besides my boss. The pros in the desk is that no one can see what I am doing. Since I am at the back. The cons is, I'm very close to the boss. So that sucks a bit. Oh well... Today is my first trip overseas since I'm flying to Singapore, that's going to be an adventure of its own.

Me waiting for the train... That a long and hot wait.

Now it's 728pm. My friend has already left for a different flight. He says that he will wait for me. Probably split a cab or take the train. I am going to board my flight soon. 

Arrived at Singapore around 9pm. My friend was already here and he was waiting for me. Both of us was hungry so we stop by for something to eat. 

After taking the train and learning about Singapore transit system. We finally arrived to the hotel. 

12am got bath and went to bed... Tomorrow is a new day

Day 64: 22 hours

Yesterday I knew I was in for a long day but I didn't expect it to be that long. Started from 830am till 530 am today. We have an important tender that we need to submit by this afternoon. My part is one of the most crucial part in the report since it was the technical side of things. I was quite frustrated since my boss just let go of what he was supposed to do to me. I can tell that I was so green doing his since I was working with another boss. I keep on getting scolded by her since my face I always like a deer getting hit with a car (something like this 😳) everytime she ask me a question. It didn't help because every time I handed something to her it needs to get redone again. 😩 sigh... Live and learn. 

Well it got me to appreciate what I do for a living. Things I learn from this experience 

1) Never do anything last minute

2) Always keep your files organized 

3) Never trust anyone to do your work for you

4) Develop a thick skin since you are going to be yelled to a lot.

5) Try not to eat spicy food since it can cause flatulance

We did it a lot of takeaway yesterday. Which was awesome. I did get a couple of winks under my desk... And the best part is today I can skip work since over work my 8 hours this morning.

Day 33: 3 short stories

3 things happen today and I don't know what title should I put. So these are small titles that should describe how my day is

My COO is awesome

I came way too early for work and I notice I was the only one there. Came down for breakfast. Who else was there than my COO eating alone. So I decided to join him. We end up taking and the stories he told were exactly what I aspire to be when I am his age. Granted he looks way knowledgeable than me but hopefully I will get there.

Lunch with my best friends

I had lunch with the intern today. I'm kinda of sad that he is leaving soon but he is going to a better place. I am going to miss our breakfast sessions. Anyway, went for lunch and him and my HR manager. And for once we acted like proper humans. Not bitching about people (well no names were mention). Which makes me wonder is there life after work... Yeah I do believe so

First time chair a meeting

This is going as an achievement. I was asked to chair a meeting with a client. Eventhough is not my job scope, I did it to help a friend out. Since both of us were less than 2 months here. I think I handled it quite well. Professional to a certain extent. Will I do it again. Probably not but will see

Day 30: I love client meetings

Forgot to post yesterday. Finally I reach my first month of the job. I feel that I am nowhere close to be ready. But it's a process and I'm learning a lot. I do love going to client meetings since it gives me more chance to learn about my job scope. 30 days in and I'm still loving this job. Maybe it's because there is nothing coming my way yet.

Day 5: More of the same

Today is practically doing more the same thing. Reading and understanding about stuff. My boss said starting next week my training begins. After office hours. Probably is more wax on and wax off. So it has begun... It's close to getting real. Well on plus side is I get to enjoy 2 days of break before I have to start the cycle all over again.
