Week 4: H1 got a new macbook and I got a new keyboard

This week H1 is back from home and we are still struggling with Baby passing. It is getting better but time will heal all wounds. We did however bought her a new laptop which she love. 

Jan 19
• Send maid home and mama and I went for lunch
• We went to all you can eat Malay food. We got there quite late so most of the food were already almost done. We had only 1 hour to eat. Mom found her friend who was eating at the same restaurant. Ate some nice food and then send mom to the hotel
• Came back home and did some classes
• Finish Batman Arkham VR which that game was awesome

Jan 20
• Made some tuna wraps for H2
• Made pasta and leftover soy chicken
• Went to get wife's exams notes. Went to mom in law house to get wife bag. Ate some ice cream and McD.
• I think H1 is angry at me because she is not answering my text and she doesn;t want to acknoledge when I talk to her. I feel very sad but it's okay. She needs time to greive and I think I don't mind getting blame for her cats death

Jan 21
• H1 is back from home and she is giving me the silent treatment
• Wife is not feeling well
• Didn’t cook. Mostly ordered and ate leftovers
• H1 is constantly crying. She mostly is wailing a lot. Cried when she came home and cried in the evening as well. Wife is doing her best to console her. As for me. I feel sad but I honestly don’t know what to say. Just be there for her I guess

Jan 22 New stuff
• Wake up this morning with H2 feeling not well so she is not going to school today
• Send her to the clinic after classes (which the last 4 was my 4 best students) and the doctor says lets monitor her before we have to go to a specialist
• H1 wanted to eat some fried chicken toda so we went to the new mall in the middle of the city (TRX Exchange)
• Review of the mall is that, this mall is meant for rich people. Their directory has an interactice area where they will tell you how to walk there so it is not easy to get lose in this mall
• After Fried chicken we went to the only Apple store in country. We traded both H1 and H2 ipad and got $1725. Couple with the student discount we got H1 a new M3 Macbook Air for $2844. That is a steal I tell you. Had a one hour class on how to use the laptop. It is very intuative. Maybe I should get one as well.

Jan 23
• Went to the hospital today only to found out that wife didn't notice the appointment was in the evening but we couldn't make it since we need to pick up H2. So she did her blood test and we left after breakfast
• Went to visit wfe's friend at another hospital. He just had surgery due to having diabetes. The way he told the story, is that he shouldn't have lived but we are here anyway. He is so lucky
• Went home and slept for a while because we are so tired, I overslept and because of that I was late picking up H2
• In the evening brought the family to see a dermatologist
• H1 was still in greif so today she requested to sleep with us. So we open the extra bed and now she is sleeping on the floor

Jan 24 New Stuff
• Got reprimanded at work so I decided to get a new mouse and keyboard, the slient kind so that they can't hear me that well
• Went to the mall with H1. We had lunch together. I went to pray at the mall. It was not that bad. Very spacious
• After sending her home at to go to the hospital to get wife medicine
• At night I cook pasta for wife

Jan 25
• Wife wanted to treat her aunts that are visiting her mom to lunch so we brought them to a chinese restaurant. We ate a lot but the price was only $227
• Hang out at mom in law house in the evening
• Finish 2 stacks of exam papers. One more to go
• So H1 told us a piece of news. The guy who open the door that made baby to get loose didn't want to apologise for his mistake. So H1 shared the screenshot of their conversation to instagram and all of that guys friends saw. Because of this she was angry at H1 and wanted to sue her for defamation. H1 had to took the post down but the damage was done. His friends now know how is that guy reall is. I never like him to begin with

We have one more week of finishing wife exam questions, next week as well is going to be busy with other errands and I need to start cooking again

What is it about?
A serial killer is on the lose and an FBI agent with psychic abilities can track him down. But there is a twist 

The Good
The story is easy to understand and it's very intersting 
There are a lot of quiet moments without music that makes it very uncomfortable 
Nic Cage as usual kills it
I am going to say this is a thirller movie  

The Bad
Supernatural movies like this its okay. But I don't understand why 

The Ugly
In the 70s where is everyone and why is everyone always seculded 

After Credits: No 

Verdict: If you like thriller. A must watch but this movie will leave a certain taste 

Kamen Rider Black RX

The last Kamen Rider for the Showa Era

Where did we left off: Minami Kotaro is now a helicopter pilot and is adopted by a family and has a girlfriend. A new enemy is the Crisis Empire who is trying to invade Earth. The General with 4 captains (each with it's own set of skills) will send their monsters to defeat Kamen Rider

Powers: So he uses the power of the sun (he got a solar panel on his waist). The most powerful weapon is a lightsaber called Revolcane. RX also has Macro Eye and RX kick. But the twist is that he can  transform to two different Riders which is Robo Rider RX (basically a robot which is super strong) that has a gun and Bio Rider (Classic Kamen Rider Design with a sword) that can change to molecules and get him out of nasty situations. He has 3 bikes and also a car 

Story: This story is more lighthearted and is geared for kids. Since every episodes there are always kids involved in this story. Kotaro doesn't have that high stakes like the past series.  Frankly I didn't quite enjoy the story since it is really dumb. I do like however the fight scene since this show really has up the effects game (it is made in 1989) 

Notable stories: The return of Shadow Moon was interesting. He has a couple of friends aiding him. The final episodes we see all 9 riders from past Kamen Rider series came to help. The ending was notable because it is very dumb

Rewatch: Paddington 2

The marmalde eating bear (which I don't think it is good for a bear) is back with another adventure. This movie still holds up and again I am amaze that nobody really mind that there is a talking bear living among them. This time to set pieces are bigger and I think I enjoyed the second one more than the first. I thinl I want to go to watch the 3rd one in the movies. Probably alone I guess. I need to find a time 

Red Eye

Is this a new genre in British TV. Airplane drama

What is it about? A doctor was detained for a crime he didn't commit and was force back to china. A UK police officer is his escort. A murder happens which leads to a bigger conspiracy 

Hijack or this? I am going to say this is much better than Hijack because there is a bigger conspiracy involving a lot of parties. To make matters worse is that no one on the plane seems to know what happen until the last minute. 

Ground or Air: I like the ground drama better this time since we don't understand why is this such a big deal and who is the bad guy (was shocked when they reveal it)

Ending: It was a good ending but both the main characters didn't get closure with each other. Or maybe they did but I don't see a second season of this coming. It was a good short series 

Rewatch: Paddington

Watching the entire Paddington series again in anticipation of the third movie. This movie still holds up. What I don't understand is, everyone seems to be okay with a talking bear roaming the streets. I mean don't anybody want to do some test or at least ask him to go to school so he can learn new stuff. I like this version of London where everyone seems very nice and nothing that bad usually happens.   

Batman Arkham Shadow

The game that made me buy a VR

After seeing this gameplay online and the premise of being Batman. I really need to get myself a Meta Quest 3 just to play this game. So after playing this game I can say that this game is one of the best game that showcase why you need to play in VR. This story takes place after Batman Arkham Origins where Batman is starting to work with the police and District Attorney to hunt down a new bad guy called the Ratcatcher. This game takes place in Gotham city and most of the game takes place in Blackgate Prison which you have been before in the past games. As far as the story goes, it is very engaging. There are a lot of Batman deep cuts for died hard fans and for nomal people you would enjoy it as well. A couple of familiar faces also return and you can see their origins before they be who they are. In terms of story this is a good one. This is the fourth of the Arkham games (City, Asylum, Origins, Shadow, Knight and Blackgate) 
 

So gameplay wise, you really are the dark knight. Everything you think Batman can do, you can do it in VR. Using your gadgets such as the Batarang, Shock Gloves, Sequencer and Portable Explosive helps you in your quest. Other than that detective mode returns and there are a lot of areas that you need to scan in order to solve the crime. The basic Arkham mechanics are back. The freeflow system in previous Arkham games is translated well in VR. You put your hands like a fist and push the bad guys one by one. You also have to be quick into dodging other attacks and making different combos like cape toss and 180 flips depending on the enemy type. Returning as well are also the stealth sections where you need to clear a room full of enemies with different perches and grates to navigate 

The thing I love about playing this in VR is the sense of immersion that you get playing at Batman. When you walk and hit and punch you do feel that you are the Caped Crusader.  The use of the gadgets are also well excecuted. As a VR game I didn't get motion sickness at all since I set it to not immersive. The combat was hard but bareable since I set it to easy, and even that I got a good beating. There are a couple of puzzles and climbing sections that I enjoy as well. The Meta Quest controllers comes in 3 buttons so its either a thumbs up, air pistols or a fist. So the hand tracking isn't that preceise. There is also a scene that reminds me of the first Arkham game which is awesome. 

There are a couple flaws in the game as well. Mainly the switch between Batman and Matches Malone. I get that it is part of the story but for evey 20 minutes of being Batman, you spend another 20-30 minutes of being Malone. After a while it really gets old and the Malone sequences are not as fun as becoming Batman. It does however moves the story forward. Besides that, the stealth sections of the game are okay but doing stealth in VR is not as great as playing it on the flat screen. Other than that this game is a perfect VR experince 

Overall I am glad my first VR game was a Batman experince. I really enjoyed every moment of it and eventhough that the game is over, I can say this is the most definitive way to experince becoming Batman. This is going to make my game of the year for this year. I give this game an S-Rank

Presumed Innocent

A very thirlling story 

What is it about? A district attoreney is the main suspect of the murder of his colleague. Every episode there is a twist to the case that will leave you guessing to the end 

Guilty? They manage to make you think that he is actually innocent even all the evidence points to him. So that is a good show

US justice system: The US justice system is weird where the accused can defend himself which I find funny in case that he has to cross examine himself 

Ending: As far as twist endings go. That one is a 7/10 on the twist scale. Since there were no other suspect so you figure out who is the real killer. A must watch in my book 

Apocalypse

First game of the year

Game no: 540
Genre: Shooter
Platform: PS1 
Release Date: 1998

So the jouney to try every PS1 game begins with this gem. I am going to say Apocalypse is a twin stick shooter before twin stick shooters are a thing. This is probably due to the original PS1 controller doesn't have dual joysticks. So the developers have to be creative and use the face buttons as directonal arrows. So each face buton is the direction you supposed to be shooting. 

This game doesn't have any unique mechanic. This is basically a run and gun which quite fun. Going from point A to B which shooting a horde of demon is really fun. On the way you will get power ups that give you an extra boost in firepower. The thing to look forward to in a game like this is a cutscene with advance 3D graphics (during that time) but I didn't bother with the story too much since the game was very enjoyable. The main character is a 3D Bruce Willis and he provided a lot of voice over work for this character. Every couple of minutes he has a quippy line that he says which is entertaining. 

In the end this game is a just a fun arcade shooter which I really enjoy. It is nothing to deep and going forward playing PS1 games, I can see these are probably the games I gravitate too. I give this game an A-Rank 

Week 3: Baby the cat Died

This week has been a sad week for the family since we lost the cat. It was careless on my part but it was bound to happen. Death is unavoidable but it is not easy when it happens. H1 is not back yet and this is the longest I haven't seen her. Miss her but this week has been very eventuful

• Went to get H2 eyes check
• Bought some custom Japanese glasses that cost a fortune
• Bought wife an early birthday present of sunglasses
• Made some fried rice

Jan 13
• Made some rice balls for H2
• Went to the bank with wife and took out close to 19k
• Ate at the mamak with H2

Jan 14
• H1 invited her friends to come over and they request me to make them some chicken katsu curry which I did.
• In the evening H1 need to go to her uni to finish work. She is going to stay there for a couple of days. I thought her friends would leave but instead they just stayed for an extra 4 hours more. I was so tired until wife had to kick them out. One left and one more decided to stay. We are okay with it. It's not a big issue.
• Helped out wife with work and was passed out at 10pm.

Jan 15 (Unmemorable, Death)
• I made some salmon curry today
• Mom came over
• Wife was not feeling so well. She is having bad anxiety due to her KPI
• This evening I notice I couldn't find Baby (our black and white cat). I looked outside and found her lifeless body. It looked like she has been dead for a couple of hours. Most likely got attacked by monkeys. Told my wife and then borrow the neighbours shovel to dig a hole beside the house. H1 is not here since she is at uni so we broke her the bad news. Wife took one of my t-shirts since we couldn't find a box to fit baby and I carried her for one last time. Her lifeless body and put in to rest for one last time. I know that death comes for everyone but really I don't know how I am going to face it when it really happens to the people I love.

Jan 16
• Today feeling a bit mellow due to yesterdays events.
• H1 told us that she doesn't want to stay with us next semester. Since baby is no longer here she has no point to stay. I am sad since I love H1 being at home but I think baby passing was so that H1 could fly. So yeah I am happy for her for being a bit independent from us
• Mom bought food today. Mom was there giving me a pep talk on how death is inevitable. The problem is that, its not easier. But I think we can't mourn for long. Life has to go on and Insya Allah good things will come

Jan 17
• Mom cooked a feast yesterday because cousin came for lunch
• Had to send wife to her exams and pick up the paper
In other news: David Lynch died today. I just finish Twin Peaks.

Jan 18
• Today went on a tour with my mom back to our hometown to visit my uncles and aunts
• First uncle we visited was 84 (pak itam). He had a storke a couple years back and now his legs are giving out. But the sad part is that he has two handicap daugthers, my cousins age 50 and 51 respesctively. I wonder what will happen when my uncle and aunt are no longer here. They treat us to Nasi Lemak in the morning
• Second we visited another uncle at 90 (pak ngah). He is getting old and now he is seeing ghost. They do say when you get closer to death. The devil will come to make you see things. But today he looks good so that is great. We had lunch for yellow curry chicken and lots of fruits
• Third is a 80 year old uncle. He doesn't have any problem. In fact he doesn't look 80. He looks like he is 60+ and still is strong. Had some tea and just talked
• The last which is the greatest is we visited my uncle and aunt that is around 85 and 78 (aunt birthday was today). Most of my cousins were there. I love these cousins since I am always the funny one here. We had a lot of food. I had some beef belly, beef, veggies and lots of rice. We ended up talking for 3 hours before heading home
• Going home I notice that our fuel was low. But we really couldn't find a petrol station. So for the first time in a year, I drove below the fuel gauge. That was so dangerous and no I won't want to do it again
• H2 aunt came to day and took her back to mom in law house. H1 is still in uni until Tuesday so she did ask me to order her some food for dinner.

So there you have it. Week 2 and is already not a good start to the year. It is going to take a while for the family to recover and we still have 50 more weeks to go for this yea r

Baby the cat

Yesterday we lost Baby our beloved cat. You can check the Journal dated Jan 15 2025 on how she died. But this posts is to celebrate her life and what she meant to me and the family.  Baby was born from the stray cat who ended at the house. We choose her name due to her being the last cat that was born. She has a motherly look that she is always cleaning other cats and humans too sometimes. She always wants love when she gets the chance and she doesn't care that she will also distrub people when they are doing work. Baby suffered from sezuires if it gets too hot, probably a brain issue so we need to make sure that she is always not overheated. Other than that she likes climbing a lot. For a fat cat (weighing in at 6kg plus) she likes climbing and sleeping on the celing of the patio. Sometimes she would just stay there for a day and come down when she is hungty. Baby is H1 most favourite cat. She also will come when H1 calls her and sleep with her. I know that there is no heaven for cats but I hope that Baby can find peace. This family mourns out so much dear. 6 years you are with us, you give us a lot of joy. But Allah has better plans for you. Rest well baby. We love you so much. 

Late Night with the Devil

 Awesome 70s retro vibes 

What is it about?
In the 70s a struggling late show host is going to improve his ratings by summoning the devil for an interview 

The Good
The retro asthetics that combines the tv show and the behind the scenes as well
The talk show is really good with the practical effects are good for the 70s 

The Bad
No idea why is the host is targeted and what happens next. Since it just ends like that Ok just read the wiki about it. I wouldn't have figured it out 
I wonder what happens next. Even though it is fiction. I can see they making another movie about the fallout 

The Ugly
Nothing much

Verdict: A great horror movie, must watch if you like it  

Invincible Season 2

Makes me want to read the comics now 

Picks up: After 2 years of no new episodes. This season picks up after we left off. More like a couple months after where Mark is dealing on what happen with his dad

New characters: There are a lot of new characters that join the roster. Including new heroes and villains. I do notice that this show is a parody of other superheroes but they manage to make it uniqeu that it dosen't seem like they are copying 

Multiverse: So this season we now have to deal with the multiverse. Which I heard it is going to be an ongoing story in the future

Ending: since its a comic and the endign is still far away. There are a lot of adventures to come. Really I need to start reading the comic 

Week 2: I got my eGPU fixed

This week has been a challenging week with my eGPU case was damage. Other than that wife is still not feeling that well and I don't know what to do. I feel bad that I can't help her. Hopefully next week can go to see the doctor 

Jan 5

• Woke up at 3 am this morning only to find wife is on the bathroom floor trying to hurt herself again. What H1 said to her and hjow worthless she is feeling is getting to her. So tried to get her up and make sure that she gets to sleep. I didn't slept after that
• Going to start class I notice that my egpu is not working. It turns out that the power is not coming in the unit so right now this thing is not working. Tried troubleshooting it with no luck. Text everyone who I think can fix it and we will see in later in the morning.
• Manage to partly fix my computer so I can it partly running. Did classes
• Send wife car to be fixed. The crack was big but they manage to partly to fix it. One day I will change the screen if I have extra money
• Went to the city to send the egpu to be fixed. I won't know anything about it until a couple days. So a couple of days with my gpu
• Wife is still miserable. Took her out to eat. Coming back she is still hungry. After dinner she eats some more.
• I have a young girl who is working as a doctor. She is nice. She ask me how am I doing. She is nice.

Jan 6
• Took my car to be service. Riding the ride share I was suprised both time it was a lady who gave me a ride
• Cooked some pasta bake for the kids. In the evening cook some fried rice
• Mom in law came to send H2 some shoes and they were hungry. It is a good thing there are a lot of food on the table
• Did classes and then exercise with my best friend on the the phone. Did manage to watch kamen rider that much

Jan 7
• Did a lot of classes yesterday
• Had some chiense takeaway for dinner. It wasn't that bad but it wasn't that good either

Jan 8
• Went to get wife medication.
• H1 studied until late at night
• Had some Borneo food with H2 and wife. It was raining heavily while we ate

Jan 9
• H2 wasn't feeling well today so she decided to stay home
• H1 broke a wire in her braces so it is cutting her cheek. Went to the dentist, no one had an opening for her so we are going tomorrow
• I made some claypot chicken rice without the claypot and as my wife said that it was amazing
• Pick up H1 late again at uni
• My EGPU is fixed. It cost me 400 bucks. Well it is better than buying a new one

Jan 10
• H1 got presentations
• H2 went to a skin specalist. She needs a new diet with involves no junk food and presevatives as well being gluten free
• Had some mamak food with the kids

Jan 11
• Take the maid today
• Went out to eat some Chienese food

Next week I have nothing much looking forward to. Just the normal things. Yeah, need to send the car to be serviced.

The movie is biopic so it tells the story from start to finished 
I don't know why but black and white films are awesome

Nothing much. I can see why this movie was the best during its time

After Credits: Fun fact movies all of the old days don't have credits. Its just 30 seconds of who is starring 

Verdict: If you like musicals, you should watch it 

Hijack

This could really happen?

What is it about? A fictional flight got Hijack on the way to the UK. 7 hours till it reach its destinaion a lot of things can go wrong. Idris Elba is here to stop it

First of all: This is not an action series. I mean this is no Air Force One. A lot of time they are spending sitting down in their seats and just waiting for the next set of instructions. There are a couple of tense moments on the show. It has 3 parts. The plane, the police, the civilians. 

Can did this happen: Very unlikely but a lot of planning has to be done. So should I be worried. Not really since the chances of this happenign is rare

Ending: It just ends. But not after a lot of different twists and turns 

Twilight of the Warriors Walled In

In awesome kung fu movie 

 

What is it about?
In the 80s the city of Kawloon is a place where people can get a secon chance 

The Good 
The story is amazing. 
The fight scenes are also great. There are some supernatural elements in this story 

A lot of old actors and also new ones as well 

The Bad
This movie is a bit too long. I think there are a couple place that can be cut but everything has a purpose

Ending is a bit underwhelming. No idea what happens next 

The Ugly

Star vs The Forces of Evil Season 1

Awesome show to begin with

What is it about: Princess star butterfly got a new wand but doesn't know how to use it yet. So her parents send her to Earth to live is Marco and his family 

Funny: This cartoon reminds me of Regular Show but not as crazy. There are a lot of humor in the dialoge and the stories are short and entertaining 

Season: 1 This season is more the adventure of the day. Not until the end there was some high stakes 

Ending: It ended in a cliffhanger with a lot of new things happen to all of the main characters. 

Kneecap

Oh boy, another foreign movie

What is it about?
It's about 3 rappers who wants to challenge the UK to adopt Irish as the main language 

The Good
Well the story is interesting. This movie is conducted totally in Irish and a little bit of English
Rapping in Irish is very catchy 
The ending is nice

The Bad
This movie is a bit too long to make a point. There a re a couple fo scene that are not needed for the movie
